Default Wet matches

Nothing worse than wet matches on a rainy camping trip! What's your "slick trick for ensuring dry matches under any circumstances?

Magnesium Fire Starter

and I also have this..

Brunton Helios&#153 Stormproof Lighter

any matches would be in a Zip lock bag. Of course a good BIC works too.

Strike anywhere blue tips, dipped in wax and carried in a waterproof container.

I store my matches in an empty medicine bottle. I also bring along a small magnifying glass to help start fires on sunny days. (It also helps to find the splinters that seem to love my fingers!)

I do the same thing steves does. But I also carry disposable lighters, my trusty zippo, a magnifying glass and a magnesium fire starter. Fire is very important to me.

Defiantly with Dinosaur on this one, matches are just 1 of many fire starting options in my packs. With fire I have heat, comfort, light, signal options, warm food and safe water, way too important to go without.

First of all small little waterproof match box didn't kill anyone. Second, you may want to buy waterproof/stormproof matches but even them can fail when exposed to the elements if you don't carry them in a protective container.
