Default What Is It About Food Over A Campfire?

I have never had better food than that food that was cooked over an open fire. I don't know if hunger is the sauce that makes everything better or if it's just the smoke flavor. Anyway, I love it.

Is it really the food or the fresh mountain air that is stimulating the appetite?

I remember an elk hunt, high on a mountain in two feet of snow, unplanned night camping out, melting snow in an empty pop can, even the wood ash tea tasted good.

I think it's a big mental thing too aside from the actual taste. To me it's like grilling and that is one of my favorite things to do. I hate to cook, but love to grill food. Like Grandpa said, I think it's the fresh mountain air too. Kind of have a free feeling when doing it.

I think its all about what you go through that makes it better. Just think, its not like cooking in the kitchen at home. Were every thing is more available. Its about having to put things together before you leave. I think it taste better because of the time spent making it.

I think it tastes better because of all the time outdoors. Being outdoors just seems to make all the senses more acute. I also think that I work work up a better appetite when I am camping.
