Default Ziploc omelettes

We went camping with the in-laws awhile back and they made these great omelettes. Basically you crack 2 or 3 eggs into a Ziploc (use the good ones or they will melt), close the bag and scramble them. Then you add whatever you want inside like cheese, peppers, onions, mushrooms, ham, etc. To cook them you place them in a pot of boiling water for 10-15 minutes. They were absolutely delicious!

That is absolutely crazy, but I MUST try them sometime!! Do you use the heavy duty freezer bags? Was there a brand that works better than another? Even if we aren't camping, I bet my kids would love to try making them!!

I have thought about it, but ziploc does not recommend boiling their bags in water. I thought they had a press release on it, but have not found it.

That sounds great. I'll have to try them but I'll make sure I have the fire extinguisher handy. I've been known to have accidental accidents. (Yes, there is such a thing!)

This is such a great idea! It had never occurred to me to use Ziploc bags for anything other than sandwiches and potato chips, lol. We'll have to try this at home soon, before our next camping trip.
