Default Baked banana's

I like to throw a few banana's on the campfire ashes wrapped in aluminium foil for a treat. Has anyone tried this before? I've always done it with apples aswell. Delicious.

I've not tried this, no... how long do you keep them on the fire? And for the
apples, do they get soft enough or keep some of the crunch?

Wow! Never though about bananas or apples. Yes please tell us your secret. How long to keep in the ashes or coals. Do you add chocolate? Do you make them for breakfast while the fire is low? I am almost tasting it now. Yum

What a great idea! I would like to try it, as well. This may sound like a silly question, but do you cook the bananas in the peel and then take the peel off after it is done? I also like the honey and the chocolate idea, maybe not together; but they do sound good.

Doesn't sound like a silly question to me at all... I never thought of the peel thing... I envisioned peeling them first, but I have a feeling they're probably kept in the peel for cooking. I'll watch for the answer.

As for chocolate... well anything and everything is better with chocolate... I might melt a Hershey bar over that banana. Oh my!

That sounds good, but I never heard about baking bananas like that before.

When I was growing up, we had neighbors who baked apples in the oven, with some kind of sweet red coloring to them. I don't know what that was, but I liked them.

How about banana pancakes cooked on an open fire?

Oh, this sounds so good. I was thinking the same thing as I was reading--adding chocolate syrup or how about melted peanut butter.

I am going to have to try this recipe next time I go camping. I am interested to know if you have to take the peel off as well.

Ya know what might taste good, doing it on your gas grill at home--and when it is nice and warm, put it in the bowl with some vanilla ice cream and chocolate syrup. YUM! Can you see the vanilla ice cream melting around the warm banana?

What my father does is take a regualr pan, melts some butter and then keeps some peeles and longitudinally sliced banans over it...just for a minute or two till a burning smell starts coming..he then tops this up with honey.....
Oh...I would love to try out with chocolate or hazelnut sauce....

Alright people, now cut this out! It's making me hungrier every time I read this thread!

Maybe we need to plan an Outdoor Basecamp Community Cookout/Campout.
