Default Campfire pie

Well, this absolutely couldn't be any easier to make and it's very tasty too! One of our friends made this last time we had a campfire.

Ingredients:
•1 cup milk
•1 cup flour
•1 cup sugar
•1 stick of butter
•1 tsp vanilla
•favorite pie filling

Directions: In a dutch oven (the type with the lid that hold coals)place the pie filling. Mix remaining ingredients together. Pour over pie filling. Place oven on hot coals and put hot coals on lid. Check at 20 min. Depending on the bed of coals this takes 20 - 30 minutes.

That sounds good and just like something we make at home. We call it cobbler. And it is very good! Have never thought to fix it while camping before in a dutch oven. Thanks for that tip.

Sounds like it might work. Of course, my favorite pie filling is stew.

Well it might make for some interesting stew! It does sound good though and easy to make. Think I will give it a try at home this week end and see how it goes. Thanks for sharing it.

Why couldn't you use a biscuit type dough to place on top of a good deer or rabbit stew? I've seen plenty of toppings like this on a beef stew or a pork stew. I don't know why you couldn't do the same while you are camping. Of course you would have to precook the stew itself before you placed the biscuit mixture on top. It wouldn't take as long to bake either.

Of course you precook the stew. It's a pot pie.

Sounds yummy for at home or out in the woods! I love pot pies too Grandpa. You could always make one of each...then you'll have dinner and dessert!

Here is the even easier way.Take for example a couple cans of peaches, dump one juice and all in the bottom of ya dutch oven, drain the other one, drink the juice then dump the peaches in. sprinkle a hand full of light brown suger(about a cup) over the peaches, then shave hallf a stick of butter over that. Now the tricky part, take a box of yellow cake mix straight outa the box and sprinkle it over the peaches. Smooth it out with a fork then shave the other half of that stick of butter over the top put on the lid and bake. Das peach cobbler done easy and it taste geat.
