Default Bought me some goodies for Christmas

Well got myself a couple of Christmas presents this year. Looking forward to trying the out. First one I am already using and love it. Got a Monte-Bell Ultra light weight Down Jacket. This things rocks 85 percent 800 fill down and weighs only 7 oz. Been wearing it in temps in the low 30's without a shell and it is still comfy. Liked the down so well in the jacket made me go get a new sleeping bag. Big Agnes Lost Ranger 15 degree bag. Looking forward to trying it out on the 4 day trip over New Years to Big Frog Mountain. Looks like it will be nice rated to 15 degrees and since it is down it is lighter than the synthetic 30 degree bag I was using.

Very nice! I remember getting my first ultra light weight down jacket; best jacket ever! I haven't picked up anything but my wife and kids usually get me outdoors stuff for Christmas. I am sure santa will be kind to me, too!

Those jackets are so neat. I have a cheap down jacket but the fill in it is cheap just says down. Amazing the difference would have never thought something this thin and light could be so warm.

Hi...

What will you be sleeping on under the bag?

For my trip in December I will bring two pad since it is a base camp trip. 1.5 inch Thermarest Trail Lite for insulation and a Exped basic for comfort 2.5 inch. Or maybe just the Thermrest and my Hammock if not to cold.

Santa is doing big this year. Getting a Western Mountaineering Versalite sleeping bag!

If you sign up for a Survival School and it's cancelled for bad weather, you didn't miss much.

That is a nice sleeping bag 10 degrees and still half pound or more lighter than my 15. Must have been a good boy as Western Mountaineering is the best.

That is one fine piece and should last forever. I have used their UL down pants for years now as my warmest pants. The Canadian workmanship and sewing are world renowned, very good gear.

My UL down jacket is the Western Mountaineering Flight jacket. It has the same type of high quality down as the Monte-Bell stuff. After seven years is still lofts as good as it did brand new. The zipper finally wore out so I sent it back with a note and credit card # to WM repair facility telling them it was my fault for backpacking for years in sandy terrain that eats zippers. I told them to charge me for the repair and the shipping cost too. They did not listen, repaired with with a heavier zipper like I asked but warrantied it for free and no cost to me on the return shipping either. Good company! I have two of their down sleeping bags, again for many years and they have stood the test, are super light for their high warmth and compress very well.

Well, enjoy the fine new jacket and bag Indiana. It is good to be comfortable out there and you chose well.

That jacket sounds awesome, where did you snag it from? I have been checking out some prices but the closest we have seen within reason (price wise) is about 600 down and they all look pitiful.
