I am starting to think I have an addiction to buying new camping gear/gadgets! I just can't resist all the cool gadgets. Anyone else find themselves buying new items all the time?

Start doing ultralight backpacking. It's how I curbed my spending. When you judge everything based on it's weight in ounces, suddenly all those gadgets are less appealing. Also, you don't desire them because you learn to make due without them.
