Default campingaz

i have just joined this forum and i have a question. I have had a Carena stove made in France by GAZ which i have had for years and i love. It uses Campingaz fuel: CV470. Stopped by my local REI store and was told by a salesperson that the canisters were no longer available due to problems with shipping the fuel into the US. Are there replacement canisters that will fit my stove?

Thanks,
Mike V

I would take your stove to that REI store you know and have them test fit your stove to the fuel canisters they have....I have seen that stove used on the trail past years but have not a clue if current isobutane fuel canisters will mate with your stove.

Thanks for the tip, I have always respected REI's sales reps but on a lark i called my local Big 5 Sporting Goods and the rep said they not only had them in stock but several sizes to boot. i just recently started using the stove after a long hiatus but now i am using it a lot and will go stock up

The Campingaz stove uses a different valve than other stoves, so you will have to use Campingaz fuel. Campingaz uses a bayonet base valve, whereas almost all of the other brands use a lindal valve.

Over on FaceBook there is an antique Coleman lantern & stove group, somebody in there might be able to point you in the correct direction.
