Liner Socks?

Do you combine two pair of socks, one thin and one thick, when hiking? Apparently this should help by preventing blisters formation? Any thoughts on this?

I have used them, and I have not used them. The theory is that they help wick moisture away from your feet and keep them dry.

I find them useful for tuning boot fit. If my boots are a bit loose, I add a liner sock. If they're snug, I remove them.

For long hikes and backpacking I use liner socks. They do seem to cut down on blister formation.

I'm a bit old fashioned. One pair of socks does it for me, with the possible exception of unlined rubber knee boots.

If I could, I'd still be wearing "high tops" (does anybody remember them?).

One pair for me as well as long as the boots fit correctly. I found that if the boots fit and I use a good wool sock very little problems with blisters.

They stick to your feet so any sliding that occurs happens between the liner and sock or sock and shoe. I've never had a blister while wearing liners.

I'll use them occasionally and when coupled with hiking socks and properly fitting pair of boots will give you miles of carefree hiking.

That reminds me...I've got to put an extra pair of hiking socks in my BOB, in case the pair I'm wearing gets damp/wet. Some of my footwear isn't waterproof, so if the socks get wet, I can change them...then put a poly grocery bag over each dry sock, and continue on with dry feet.
