Default One of Your Most Useful Auxiliary Pieces of Equipment?

Hi,

What is one (or more) of your most useful auxiliary pieces of equipment (apart from the major items, like tent and mattress)?

One of ours is a little Coleman Black Cat propane catalytic heater. It's like having a small fireplace in your tent on those chilly mornings.

Got to be careful, of course, not to set your sleeping bag or tent on fire. But since where is no flame, just a glow, if you watch your step, everything works great.

In a pinch, you can tilt the heating element upwards and use the unit as a quasi-camp stove (if you have a grill to rest the cooking utensil on).

Bill

Headlamp is number one on the list. A camp chair converter for my Thermarest pad is a close second.

I use the headlamp more than anything else.

My Wife is the most important piece of auxillary equipment I have.
Without her I am just screwed!

Hands down, it would be my hot water bottle. I don't go anywhere without it. A lantern is right at the top of the list too.

In camp, my headlamp and a 6 liter platypus water bag are really useful. The other thing I'd never give up is my food dehydrator, which allows me to make inexpensive, lightweight, easy to prepare, healthy, tasty meals for dayhikes and backpacking.

I like the idea of a water bottle.

Another essential item for me is a drip coffee maker that I've adapted to work without electricity. The top of the maker opens up, and I have a setup to drip hot water, heated on the propane stove, over the coffee grounds.

I mean, roughing it is one thing, but going without that fresh cup of coffee in the morning--never!

Toilet paper is an essential, sarge. I think the original question was about auxiliary equipment.
