Talking Rooftop Tents

I just got a rooftop tent from TepuiTents and wanted to express my excitement.

Anybody else excited about rooftop tents?

I love my truck tent. Can't say I have ever used a rooftop tent. Looks a lot harder to set up but I can see the uses. This one doesn't require you to unload the whole bed.

What are you using for the bedding? I have been curious and slept in one once but my buddy Frank had a horrible mattress rigged up inside his and I know they have to have better.

The one that I have is from Tepui Tents and it has a foam mattress built in. I like it a lot.

It seems weird to be camping in a tent up high like that

Hate to get up in the middle of the night to take a leak and forget where I was. That comes with age ya know.

I might be used to it because when I was 12-15 we had a pop up trailer, which meant that you were sleeping like 5-6 ft off the ground, so height doesn't seem that strange to me. In particular, I remember camping in Scorpion Bay and due to the way that my dad parked the trailer, you couldn't see the ground from my bed, it just looked like I was hanging out over the edge of the cliff.

Additionally, from a practical point of view, I find that the inside of tent gets less sand and dirt when I'm in a RTT because a lot of it falls off while climbing up the ladder.

Geez, I would fall out of that thing for sure. I don't do well with waking up at night when I have to go to the bathroom, so I would be in bad shape to try to remember I was on top of the roof of my SUV. I'd break my neck the first night.
