Default Tarps

I find it handy to have tarps around, not just at home but while camping too. I have 3 different sized ones. Still they do take up space. Do you take tarps camping with you?

I have a few tarps, I might take two of them with me. Sometimes it is good to put one under your tent before you put it down, and in other cases we might use it to make a make shift kitchen tent.

I take an 8x10 in my pack for shade and rain shelter while backpacking and a larger one in the vehicle for the same reasons when car camping for the night along the way. A good tarp makes a cheery shelter and keeps you comfortable in various weather conditions.

Tarp shelters rock. It's all I use when solo camping. I string it up between my hiking poles.

If I string it up between trees it is 8x10. If I use trekking poles still plenty big and only weights 1.3 lbs. Cant beat that.

Always! They are useful for many things around camp.

If I'm car camping or canoe camping I usually have a tarp along in case we hit some foul weather. If I'm backpacking I have a very light weight tarp that I will bring along if the forecast calls for rain, but most of the time I leave it behind.
