Using a "space blanket"

I think one of the all time best items to have on a camping excursion is a "space blanket". Mine really saved my butt once while camping at high elevation in the fall.....

Yes! I love those things. It should be a required survival kit item. They are light weight and designed to reflect body heat to keep you warm when you wrap yourself in one.

Should be part of all 10 essential kits. I always carry 2 in my first aid kit.

On one exceptionally cold night in the desert I couldn't seem to get warm in my sleeping bag, so I used my space blanket inside the bag. Got nice and toasty warm and dozed off. A short time later I woke feeling like a hot dog in a micro wave. Definitely a piece of equipment well worth having.

Mylar is a material that will provide that kind of comfort. Also, you can use this item as a rain gear, for water collection, even as sunglasses - if you look very closely you can see through it.

I also buy these blankets in highly visible colors like safety orange because you never know when you might need a big help signaling device.
