You do what you need to do when the time comes that drastic and crazy things come about, thats just how it is. I dated someone years ago and their dad was FEMA part time (when things like this happened). You would not believe the "day in the life of a fema worker", some of the stories I heard would melt most hearts.

Hey I'm not knocking FEMA, but whomever they contracted those things out to imparted a lot of flaws via material and workmanship. I'm sure the folks who needed them in a hurry would take what they could get, but I wouldn't buy one 2nd hand.

They're not worth the pressboard they're built with. Especially after 6 years of being lived in. And yes, people are still living in those things, refusing to move out and get jobs, relying only on the government's money to get by. And they complain about everything they get for free also.

Just for fun,if you go thru Mississippi on I-55 towards Jackson you will pass a place with hundreds of these trailers sitting in a field, waiting to be sold.

Go online and you will see listings for them, formaldehyde has been used in paneling for years,it's not just a problem with these trailers.

As I recall, the formaldehyde is "fumey" for several few weeks after production. Normally, by the time the paneling is installed the paneling has aired out and is considered safe. The Katrina trailers were getting people put in them just days after the components for those trailers were made/installed.
