Next time take it out of your pocket first!

It's the only time to train. Find out what your mettle is. See if you have any grit. See if you have balls the size of grapefruits. ( No offense ladies. I've met a few who had them the size of pumpkins.)

I like this. Given a test, how would you rate? I know where I am. I'm old and not up to what I used to be able to handle. But I'm still better than most.

I was out today cutting wood that had fallen in my woods. I lugged out pieces that weighed over a hundred pounds. I carried them out without even getting winded. What's your story?

I Use the chainsaw to cut them to length whatever the weight, then use the truck to haul them to the woodshed and hand split them before storage. I don't have time to donkey around being macho.

I wish I had a wood stove in my house. I really, really do. It just wasn't designed for one. I have two oil burning appliances on my unlined chimney in the center of the house. I contacted several installers this year and they all said it would require substantial modifications. The easiest way is to put it in the basement by my foundation wall, which is poured slab, but the double stainless pipe would be 30' long at a cost of $225/4' piece. That doesn't count fittings, elbows, sleeve or cap. And I would either have to cut a hole in my foundation or run it up through the living room upstairs and then out the side on the main floor.

Next place I live will have a wood stove or a reasonable chance to get one in for under 4 grand.

I wasn't being macho. I just couldn't get the truck into the woods. Believe me. I'll take the easiest way out every time.

Oh man that made me LOL, thanks.

On a more serious note my go to man made tinder is vaseline cotton balls. Never failed to get a fire going with those.
