Bingo

I have always had this strange background hum in my consciousness when I'm in the outdoors that is a level of fear. I identified it early on and this is hard to explain to another person but it is a very pleasant and familiar feeling. It brings things up to a notch of perception that clarifies and distills what is right there and what is beyond. I know others who do not experience this and some who have never been able to identify it.

Anyone without fear is just dumb. I don't trust those kinds of people. The way we control our fear is what separates the sheep from the goats.

I like ghostdog's thought process too. One of my most important goals in the outdoors is to be "ever vigilant." If not for me, for someone else.
