Default Knife Works

There's a place in Tennessee called Smokey Mountain Knife Works. I usually will go there at least once a year to find some things I need and to look at what they have. I love going there because they have tons of stuff. I bought the best set of knives I've ever had there.

I've been to the Smokies but I don't remember seeing that. I DID find a nice belt maker who I had to make a nice thick belt that's strong enough to carry a few things like a hachet and other things.

They have been around for a long time. I use to get there catalogs for years. I know they have a really large selection of knives to fit any budget.

Hmmm. I may have to look for them. We usually take at least two trips to the Smokies every year, but I don't remember them. Maybe because I just wasn't looking? I love to shop around a store like that.

The SMKW isn't too far south of I-40 on Hwy 66 (Winnfield Dunn Parkway), going toward Sevierville/Pigeon Forge/Gatlinburg it's on the right side of the road, big building can't miss it. A couple miles from the interstate maybe.

We stop in there about every time we are in the area just to look around. Have even bought a few knives there. They have pretty much anything you can think of, from pocket folders, to fixed blade utilities, to kitchen knives.

I like it too, because in the same area there are a couple of outlet stores. My favorites are the Lodge Cast Iron Outlet Store and the Coleman Outlet Store.

Back, just north of the interstate is a large Bass Pro Store too.

I usually don't trek very far,
when all around me people with knives are.

Hi, Walking Man...

What kind of a "set" of knives did you get?

I used to get their catalogs too. Here is the site:
Smoky Mountain Knife Works - home of the World's largest knife showplace
They have a nice selection, and pretty good prices.

I'll definitely have to look these guys up. I've been using a half-decent knife I got at Walmart for years--it'd be nice to invest in something a little more sturdy.

It is definitely nice to have a quality knife that you can depend on. A word of warning tho. Do NOT spend a lot of money on a super nice knife. You will find yourself leaving it in the drawer at home because you don't want to scratch/dirty it. They are never happy by themselves, and soon you will have several that are "too nice" to use. One day you will discover that you need more space to store all of these special knives, and then you are hooked. No matter how many you give to your friends, or sell to other collectors, you will never get the herd down to a manageable size. People will talk about "that crazy old man who collects knives" the same way that they talk about "cat ladies".
Just a word of warning from some one who has done that, and is in too far to ever get out.

I'm not a crazy old man who collects knives. But one day I thought I would gather my 2 or 3 knives up and take a picture to post here. ooops, I had no idea so many knives had collected me.
