Default What's the Worst Situation You've Ever Been In?

I was thinking about this the other day and honestly, I can't think of anything that was that bad so far. There was a student that fell from a large rock cliff out on a lake near here and that's about the worst thing I've been on trying to help but other than that, personally, I haven't had anything bad happen to me while I was outdoors. Knock on wood!

So how about you? Anything happen that could have been classified as survival class?

I think that the worst situation I have been in was going to Mount Abel to play in the snow. I saw some tracks and it was cold. Well I got up in following the tracks and playing with my German Shepard/Wolf mix and between that and getting snow blind I got lost. It was a good thing that I had my Bug Out Bag on me and eventually I was able to find my way back thanks to my dog Smokey.

A few...

....a crown fire on the Mogollon high country with trees popping like popcorn

....working my way back into Kenya out of Uganda during their civil war, and avoiding military, and milita checkpoints...

....backpacking the El Camino Del Diablo in Arizona, slowly sipping my last bit of water before the evening push to my next water cache, unaware until two days later at a Boarder Patrol checkpoint discovered that less then a half mile away from that bivy, 17 illegals were dying due to heat exhaustion, and dehydration...had my camp been discovered, there would of been no way to share so little water for that many. More then likey, I would of been forced to go to guns to keep it.

I was on a small lake in a john boat witha girlfriend and she asked me to marry her. There was nowhere to run.

I fell into a river once. It was cold enough that smaller patches of water were starting to freeze. I got drenched to about the armpits, including my arms.

Thankfully we were only a ten minute walk from the car. Otherwise I would have been in some real trouble.

You poor guy! How did you survive? Bwahahahahahaha! Seriously though, there have been a few times when I wondered if I hadn't gotten in over my head. I would have had to call up some survival skills if things hadn't gone my way.

I dont know if you can call them worst case but bad situations

One: I went backpacking on the Olympic Coast last spring break and the tides came in way sooner then we were expecting so we had to peerch up on the side on a step hill for five hours waiting for the tides to go back out.

Two: A few weeks ago, I went paddling on the river between Upper and Lower Spirit Lake in Idaho and after taking a break my patner got back into the canoe too fast and tipped us over causing me to swing from under the boat but thankfully I was covered in rain gear and didnt get soaked and was able to change my socks and shoes at basecamp
