Default A "Balanced" Beginner's Tent

I'm helping a friend buy her first tent - she doesn't want to buy a separate one for summer and winter camping, so something that perhaps has a removable top with a mesh layer underneath to either keep in warmth or let in a cool breeze as needed would be ideal. Any suggestions?
