Default Group Activities in Campground?

Have you ever camped in a campground that had a nice campfire going in the middle and had a lot of the campers come together for either word games or sing alongs maybe? We did that one time and it was really nice and a good way to get to know others.

Well there is that, but we did stay at a place one time that announced that they were having a 'sing a long' at the main camp fire and had someone playing a guitar. I thought it would be kooky at first but we went and it ended up being fun!

Anything that seems childish, kooky, goofy and immature is probably going to be fun while camping... except drunk horseshoes. that's fun and dangerous.

Any type of interaction between campers around a fire will be fun and exciting. Everyone around that camp fire usually have the same interests.

Telling stories, singing, games, or just talking is an excellent way of building social skills and allow campers to express themselves on their own level.

We always have a blast playing a modified version of Mafia around the campfire.

I agree interacting with other campers is a real Hoot. I love getting to know other people so I'm all about chatting it up with other people. I love doing activities with them too.

I remember back in college, my friends and I played this game where one person would sing a song and then choose to stop at a certain word. The person sitting beside has to sing another song that starts with the same word where the first song stopped. Rules were we cannot sing the same song twice and it cannot be a song you just made up. It can get quite whacky once everyone's got a few drinks. Personally, I don't know which was more fun: the game or hearing each other sing, wail and howl. Hahahaha!!!

Campfires set your mood. They are a nice place to socialize or sometimes they are a nice place to just sit and unwind. After the socialization and when everyone starts turning in for the night I like to sit there alone reflecting on the day past and thinking about the day to come so I usually put the fire to rest.

I have fond memories of camping with a bunch of horse packers in Colorado in the San Juan Mountains. There was a wonderful round of story telling, and a lot of whiskey drinking. Somewhere I have pictures of people falling over the woodpile in the dark. "Did I ever tell you about the time we went over Lizard Head Pass in the dark?" "Did I ever tell you about the time I married my cousin in Las Vegas?"
