Default Kelty Parthenon 8 my new 'bedroom'

Just got this tent and set it up myself. OK, I'm 5'2" and the tent is 7 ft tall but I did it without too much hassle.

If you're tall you will love this tent. I figure it weighs 30 lbs total so this is really not your backpacker's tent.

It looks complicated at first but after careful examination, the tent is actually a simple set of 4 poles to form the roof line with 4 vertical poles to hold it up. A center pole runs side to side and pulls the sides of the tent taut so that the windows have a slight downward slant.

To erect the tent I formed the roof line by making a square of the arched front and rear poles and the horizontal segments of the side poles. Then I put the center pole into the sleeve but left it loose. Finally I laid the fly over top. Admittedly it was not windy but I think I could manage by connecting the fly to the upwind corners.

At that point I just inserted one segment of the leg poles into each corner and went around adding one segment at a time. No stress on the assembly.

The rest was pretty simple....

In the back yard.

Taking old tent to Good Will. Good cause.

I definitely picked the right site for research. I can follow along your instructions very well and am a lot less leery about putting together whatever tent my husband decides to buy. Thanks!

Be aware I haven't slept in it or gotten it wet. But the fly covers to the ground front and back. The sides have a reverse slant so the face slightly down. Reviews of this tent are excellent. I'm planning on putting cot, table and chair in it. While there's a center divider it's totally separate from the tent. So if you don't put it in you have a full 10 x 13 area.

I think this tent will get hot though. Rear ventilation is minimal. Top is completely vented. Front is covered by fly/vestibule but the fly can be unzipped and pulled back.

I still think it will get hot though.

Next trip, Black Forest Star Party. 450 amateur astronomers. 1 incredible night sky!

Failure is not an option!

"Got Seam Sealer?" More important than the milk lol. That thing is bigger than some apartments I have lived in.
