Have you ever had to repair a tear or other damage to a tent? What was the fabric, the damage and how did you fix it? Was it long lasting or just a short fix?

Do you carry repair gear with you when you camp?

there's tent repair kits you can find in some gear stores.

however, here's an easy fix for small tears (6 inches long at most)

cut a square of disposable vinyl tablecloth. lay tent flat and spray area around the tear with a spray on adhesive (from hobby stores and hardware stores) Place vinyl patch over the tear.

It may not be the best way, but if you know anyone who rolls of vinyl tablecloth (parents who recently hosted a birthday party), then you're all set.

I've never carried a repair kit with me, I just checked my gear before I left. Perhaps I should carry a kit-after all the biggest chance of damage is when the tent is in use.
