Top quality 3 man tents are going to cost you quite a bit, usually $300 and up. But you don't really need to spend that much. There are very good tents available for half that if you shop around.

I just noticed a Mountain Hardwear 3 man Lightpath tent on Campmor.com for $170. It it an excellent tent that has very good reviews.

I own 2 man Sierra Designs Sirius that cost me $150 (the 3 man was $15 more) and it is an excellent tent. It is lightweight with aluminum poles and taped seams, all indicators of a quality tent. It has been durable, stays up in high wind and it keeps us dry.

Also REI and LL Bean sell their own branded tents that are very good values.
