| Climbers die after fall from Alaska's Mt. McKinley Two more people have died while traversing Denali Pass on Mt. McKinley in Alaska, the National Park Service said Thursday. The climbers were part of a team of four making its way along a 45-degree slope of windblown ice down to a camp before midnight on Wednesday. The group, which was roped, fell while descending from 18,000 feet.
The fall killed two of the mountaineers and critically injured the other two. Members of the Air National Guard brought the injured to the 17,200-foot high camp the climbers were descending to.
Emergency treatment was given to the two surviving climbers. One was responsive and in stable condition despite a head injury and a broken leg. The other was unresponsive and had labored breathing.
