Default Lake Brownwood State Park gets $50,000 to improve hiking trails

The Lake Brownwood State Park will receive about $50,000 in refurbishments to its hiking trails, said State Parks Trails Coordinator Trey Cooksey.
The money is part of a recreational trail program under the Federal Highway Administration. Lake Brownwood was one of seven Texas state parks that received funding for their trails. Others were Cooper Lake, Eisenhower, Huntsville, Lake Corpus Christi, McKinney Falls and Tyler.
Lake Brownwood park Superintendent John Holland said work will begin in September.
The work will concentrate on the Texas Oak Trail that follows the north shoreline and the Lakeside Trail on the east end of the lake. Holland said the Lakeside Trail is historically significant because it includes a picnic area that was built by the Works Progress Administration during the Depression.

I think what you will find upon seeing the finished product of this $50,000 infusion is that $50,000 doesn't go very far. Most government projects, although not a waste of time, are a waste of money.
