Default Zion National Park launches drop-in volunteer program for visitors, local residents

ZION NATIONAL PARK, Utah — Zion National Park has launched a weekly, drop-in volunteer program to allow the public to help improve the park.
Officials say the new Friday-only program is open to both visitors and residents of park-area communities from June to November.
Volunteers should meet at the Zion Canyon Visitor Center shuttle stop at 9 a.m., and expect to work about three hours.
No special skills or knowledge is required. Projects will include litter removal, trail maintenance, invasive weed management and other activities to enhance the park’s appearance, resource management and visitor experience.

I wish that I'd heard about this program earlier in the year. Zion National Park is one of my favorite places in Utah. Hopefully next summer I'll be able to volunteer at the park.

It's great they are doing this I hope many take advantage of this and give back to a place that is so great I like Zion and many more of the parks in that area. I wish more Parks across the great USA would do this and pray many will volunteer. We have an awseome Park system local, state, and national that can use our help. We use them why can't everyone step up and help.

This is great; thanks for posting! I have done a week-long NP volunteer trip with the Sierra Club and was considering this again for next year. A one-day option might be better, though!

I tried to check on the link that you gave, Jason, but I'm getting a Page not Found error. But it sounds like a good idea. It's one way for us to give back to these parks that we go to and enjoy. Hopefully, I can make it this year.
