When you go hiking do you always wear hiking boots or do you prefer to wear something else? I have hiked wearing a little bit of everything. I prefer sneakers with good traction.

I'll hike in any comfortable footwear with good traction. If it's hot and I'm not going anywhere too hilly, I'll wear my Teva sandals. I've worn my Corcoran field boots out on tons of hikes. I just invested in some Vasque hiking boots (which I'm loving, by the way).

I like hiking boots for ruff terrain and the sugar sand we get down here. The ankle protection is worth it to me. Now I've been out before driving around and stumbled upon a trail or park I did not know about and used my sandals before. And I've used sneakers on trails I know that are not ruff.

I use hiking boots but a few here have started barefoot hiking, I am not sure what to think of it, I don't think it would do much for bad ankles, etc but the mud and stuff would be great for your skin.
