We almost always do 7 day trips but it is amazing what one can accomplish in just three days if that is what you have. You can make a real good one in 4 days and three nights.

Most of my trips are just weekend overniters. Once in a while I'll do a 3 day, 2 night trip.

I've only been out 4 or more days a few times.

Indiana,

It is common in the inter-mountain West to drive 40, 75 or even 100 miles from the pavement in search of some wild country. Many county roads are dirt and even some of the state highways are still dirt.

3 nights 4 days is a perfect trip length in my book. I just make sure I hike or camp somewhat close to a river so I dont have to pack water.

Take advantage of what ever you can get. 2 days and 1 night are better than no days and no nights.
