Default measuring up

A friend of mine made the same mistake I did years ago and did not measure correctly, unsure of it until they were out and about on a trial with an aching back and stiff neck. How many others fell into this trap with their first backpack?

I know most sites now advertise when shopping like they would for clothing, with those popup instructions on how to measure. We actually got lucky when we shopped local and after trying on about four sets someone can up to us to ask if it was our first time or not.

Badly-fitting pack always turns a trail into a trial.

I fell in to that trap. I had no idea that you even needed to measure. Of course I learned quite quickly and gave that first pack away not long after I got it. I then traded up for a pack that fit correctly.

I'm pretty much Mr. Average in height/build for my age group, so I'm not too hard to fit. That said, a badly fitting pack is torment on the trail.

We learn through our mistakes. I am lucky, like WV, I am pretty average so it is very easy for me to find a pack that fits. Still, I have a pack I have had for a few years that I love and plan to keep using until it falls apart.

I am not average. I am not fat, but I am one of those unfortunate people who has a strange figure. I have a very large rib cage. It makes it much more difficult to find a good pack that fits just right.
