Default No work, all play

Makes for a dull...........yes we all know the story but is it true? What happens to those of us that do need to stay in touch for an emergency with with work off. Should you take a laptop just to be on the safe side?

Personally, my job would just have to do without me. There's a reason I go backpacking - that's to get away from everything. Plus a cell-phone or laptop would be completely useless where I go. No signal unless you've got some kind of satelite reciever setup.

I am debating this more and more as I get closer to a large trip we plan to take this fall. Right now I can not manage to be without some type of contact, even if its a cell for an emergency.

I assume you'd be on vacation. Unless I was the business owner and wanted to check in now and then, I'd leave the laptop at home and enjoy my trip. I might take the cell phone, but turn in on only to get messages.

I try to avoid taking my laptop with me if I can. Depending on what's going on with work, sometimes it just has to happen. That's the problem with modern technology - the ability to be connected doesn't always give us the break we need.
