Pack of 30 Liters

REI Traverse 30 pack just arrived in the mail and I love it. Although that capacity may not be enough for multiday trips I think it can serve for one or two night trips, in case you pack light, and I do.

Certainly not family gear but I do love these. It's nice (for us) to use when hiking but not camping-we probably need as much gear for a day as you do for a couple of nights thanks to the kids.

I know exactly what you mean. When my wife comes along it's goodbye to the light backpacking. My pack then becomes certainly twice as heavy.

Why should it Barney? Why isn't your wife carrying her own gear? If she wants to take it, she should carry it-we've always tried to do that within our family (though we don't force the kids of course!).

Well, I'm just a nice husband. But for your information she is carrying her own "gear". I carry the "extra" stuff like she likes to call it. That is how much stuff she considers necessary.
