Default Small items in a backpack

When I go back packing I want to know where everything in my back pack is and to be able to find everything easily. Sometimes the smaller things seem to get lost and cause me a head ache. How do you store small items in your backpack?

I would use a small cloth or flexible bag of some kind. The bag wouldn't add any noticeable weight and all the small items would all be together. A large Ziploc bag would work, too.

I use a Ziploc bag myself and that way it keeps things waterproof as well as keeping things together so they don't get scattered through your bag.

I have some larger pill bottles that are easy to label and also can be kept secure. I also use small zip lock baggies inside of a larger back I attach in to the inside pocket of the back pack.

Are pill bottles waterproof? I think about small things when I buy a backpack. I know what I will be carrying and I ask myself if the back pack will be one that can be easily organized. I like one that has special pockets for the small things.

I think starting off with a good back pack is really important. After that I like zip lock baggies as well. I only like the ones with the zipper top though. They seem to stay closed better.

everything is organized in my pack. I use Ziploc bags and mesh bags (both allow me to see into the bag without opening it). Headlamp, bug spray, iodine tablets and cigarette lighter in one bag. My camp pot, alcohol stove, another lighter, spork, wind screen and alcohol go in another. All my first aid in another. Everything else is larger items.

I'm a compulsively organized person. I always figure out where everything should go in my packs and then always put them back in the same spot.

First, I check to make sure that a new backpack is going to have spots for my things. I love pockets for things, especially if they've got subdividers so that I can distribute things around.

Then I use small bags to keep things together. Ziplock bags are good, with the added benefit of keeping things dry. I also picked up a small pouch so that I can put useful things into it and have them all stay together.

check out the army surplus for what they call an (personal effects" bag, they are heavy gague plastic and can stand a lot of abuse. I like to pick 1 pocket for my smaller items so all of it will be in 1 place.
