Is rock climbing an expensive sport? I'm picturing all the safety equipment and I'm thinking that stuff has to cost a pretty penny. Also, where do you get it from?

Adult sports of all types tend to cost a little more than those from when you are a kid. I would check to see what you are willing to spend before hand. It might be possible another sport/hobby is in your budget a little better than this one.

Your start up costs for almost any sport will be high and rock climbing is not an exception. As looey said, you might want to see what is in your budget and what is not.

Rock Climbing is a sport that is relying on equipment that ensures one's safety. Unfortunately, that said equipment is not exactly dirt cheap. The norm for those type is... the more expensive, the more it can provide security.

Yes and NEVER buy climbing equipment that is dirt cheap. Like poison Ivy said this stuff is made strong to safe your life so its cost has a really good reason for it. You want it made well. However I do find outdoor rock climbing much better than indoor.
