rock walls?

I've never really done any rock climbing. I have climbed a fake rock wall though! How similar are these to the real thing? Can you practice on them before trying it?

I have tried this and failed miserably then again it was at a carnival type place too so that could be why. I am not super adventurous, not like I plan to skydive anytime soon but I would love another shot at this.

I think climbing those fake rock walls would be a good training for our climbing muscles and would help us develop some skills in rock climbing.

Yea, that's what I was thinking - toning the muscles that you use while climbing the real thing. The idea of climbing jagged rock makes me nervous though. The rock walls are much smoother!

One of the guys I work with used to go to the rock climbing gym when he didn't have time to head outside to climb. He said it wasn't the same but better than nothing.
