Default Age?

Is there any age limit to scuba diving? I'm not at all a confident swimmer but I get by and I have always wanted to go on holiday to somewhere like the Maldives and be able to scuba dive and see all the exotic fish underwater. I'm not in the first flush of youth however.

Depends on the person and their state of health. But, generally no.

My grandpa is a scuba diver and he is not particularly healthy and he is in his 60s. I don't think there is a particular age limit, just make sure that you do what is safe and smart for you.

That's good to hear. I am in my sixties and am in excellent health. I swim for pleasure and exercise and a scuba diving holiday has always been on the agenda of things to do before I die.

Depends on health condition more than age.
Years ago when I lived in Houston and before I was married I dove with a guy who was in his 60s or 70s I would guess.
He had been diving all his life though and had lotsa cool stories about diving during World War 2 for some Civilian agency in support of the war effort. Inspecting & repairing overseas underwater structures if I remember correctly.
I remember the story when he had to fight a enemy sabatour underwater, kicked the guys ass and captured him.
I think I would try the class at your local scuba shop and see if it is for you and you are up to it.

Valdaree, go for it! I'm sure you will enjoy it. If your a strong swimmer to start with, you should have no issues. I find it very relaxing...unless you're trying to bring up a canon barrel from an old wreck!
