Scuba dive certification?

My wife and I are going on a Cruise in August and I am curious on if we have to certify before going as we want to scuba dive in the ocean. It will be a new experience for the both of us and we have no idea even where to certify if need be.

It would make it much easier if you got certified before. Contact your local dive shop. I've heard not so good stories about getting certified on cruises.

I think they have special deals when you're on a cruise. Check with the cruise line.

From what I know, there are some resorts that offer one-day courses for those that want to try out scuba diving. You can check with the cruise company if they offer those to their guests. Personally, I'd recommend that you get certified first before you go out to the cruise. At least that way, even if the cruise company don't offer those one day courses, you'll still be allowed to go scuba diving.
