Volunteering Locally

Has anyone else volunteered to assist your local search and rescue unit by diving for missing people? We have a unit that is entirely volunteer and I have helped them out for a couple of years. We have a local lake that is huge and we have to help occasionally. Do you vounteer?

My son in law is a volunteer and he gets called out all of the time. But then he lives by a series of lakes and water. It's really bad sometimes because they don't find them immediately.

It takes a special kind of person. By the time they call in a dive team it is never a happy ending, and the family is never prepared for what water does to a body.
