I bought a week's worth of Smartwool socks a while ago. I do my laundry at least once a week. So if I want, I can wear Smartwool socks each and every day. Ain't life grand?

So, yeah. Wearing hiking socks every day is pretty awesome. If I'm just walking down the street to the store, I'll use thin synthetic socks. But I mostly just wear the hiking socks every day. My feet sorta love me for it.

Thank-you so much for the suggestions guys. I am going to get out later and see what is available in our area today, and if I don't find any of these I will just order some online.

Thanks for all the good advise on proper socks and different manufacturers . I will be upgrading to a few pair real soon. On the other foot, has anybody ever heard of anyone not wearing socks at all while hiking? I knew of several in the military who didn't wear sock to the field.

Yes, we had one old hippie type (no offense hippy) that never wore socks at work and he claimed hiking as well. He would take his brand new leather work boots and cut slits in them so they would breath better and never wore socks.

I got hooked up with the Darn Tough socks from Vermont

Darn Tough Vermont: Running Socks, Biking Socks, Hiking Socks, Trekking Socks, Ski Socks, Snowboard Socks, Hunting Socks, Fishing Socks, Birding Socks

now that's all I wear, guaranteed for life and after 6 months on the 1st 2 pairs still no reason to send them back yet. I have since bought 4 more pairs all different styles and NO complaints
