Default Kilt anyone?

When we were in the Wind Rivers, met a thru hiker wearing a hiking kilt. I kind of chuckled at first but the more I got thinking about it........
Anyone had any experience hiking in a kilt?

I haven't but know of 2 or 3 guys from backpacker.com that wear them. Honestly I am very open to the idea if trying one. From a practical stand it really makes sense in many year. Mountain Hard ware makes a couple if different kilts. The one that seems to be the favorite is no longer made. I am thinking about getting one of I kind find it. Have yet to read a bad review about any hiking kilt.

This is the kilt I ordered for Green Hornet when he thru-hiked the Appalachian Trail in 2007. He wore it from VA to ME. He loved it.

Mountain Hardwear Men's Mountain Kilt - Free Shipping on Mountain Hardwear orders over $49 at Moosejaw

One of the guys mentioned by IndianaHiker at backpacker.com wears a Utilikilt. They are by far the sexiest kilt I've seen.

Sportkilt.com has great stock. They're soft polyester and made for active people. I wear one and a friend of mine back in PA wears one for hiking/backpacking.

Kilts are, in my opinion, the best way to go in the summer.

I would think it would be very comfortable unless your legs rub together. Then it wouldn't be very comfortable. I would say they would certainly be cooler if nothing else. You just have to be careful how and where you sit down. LOL

I have seen a few of the Utilikilt's before on fan sites but never wore one (even though my family genes said I should). I wonder what it would take to get my husband in one?

I was clued in on the long lost thread elsewhere and had to stop reading at 48 hours to get back to business. Beautiful photos along the way!!! Be still my heart...! Nothing like chunky boots and a kilt to say....."Good morning sweetheart!"

I would personally recommend kilts for all men!

By the way MsD, did all of you make it over the pond the next year? I haven't gotten to that part in the thread yet?!!!

As long as I don't have to slide downhill on my butt. How about skeeters? Doesn't that mean you'd have to put bug juice on your gentles?
