Default Today's Hike

I went hiking today and it was wonderful. I went to one of my favorite trails that I tend to avoid at other times of the years because of how busy it gets. Today it was just me out there and it was wonderful!

I too got out and knocked out a few miles. Gathered up some of my geocaches and removed them from the woods. Had a Dunkin Donuts coffee in one hand and a hiking staff in the other, When the coffee ran out I replaced it with a cigar. What a nice quiet relaxing time I had. Temp in the mid 40's no rain and partly sunny.

That is great guys! I didn't get to go out today. I have been working too much so I spent time with my family. The older kids have all gone out so now it is just me and my wife. I am thinking the two of us could hike tomorrow.

Like the hiking with the cigar part. Didnt know if I was the only one 'round here to light up a stogey while on the trail! Well come to think of it, thats the only time I smoke em. But I am in the woods alot so pass me a Backwoods!

I need to head out soon, starting to feel that horrible catastrophic in the work space evil that lurks around. Right now we are dealing with temp's in the 20's so for me I need to bundle up like never before. Its been a crazy weather set lately for us, your trip makes me envy it with those 40 temps oldsarge!!

Our local State Forest sponsored a First Day Hike on New Year's. About 80 people started and about 2/3 of them took the shorter, flatter loop trail. The die-hards took about a 4.5 mile loop trail with a pretty good ascent, a ridgeline flat walk, and a very steep descent back to the start.

It was great to be out, met some nice folks, and had a good time. Sore calves the next morning tho- definitely need to do more climbing trails.

This Saturday I'm taking a much needed long hike (14 miles) at Point Reyes National Park in Northern California. The forecast calls for clear skies. I'm taking a few sandwiches, walking sticks and my New Balance Walkers. Can't wait!
