Default No ice skating yet!

I'm getting sick of this winter! So far it's been in the 40s more then anything else. 40s means that the lakes are not freezing . This means that we (my family) has not been able to ice skate yet. We like to get out there on the local lakes.

Anyone lucky enough to ice skate yet (outdoors)?

Hi...

No, not yet here.

I've spent many years in cold country...and even though I'm not a heat freak...I'm now getting to where I don't seem to mind the more temperate weather at all.

Today it's been another mini blizzard out...which is okay...as the weather is still not very cold (24-degrees now)...but my main concern is not having to clear the snow off of my UTE, or have my driveway cleared...which I would never do if the mail carriers didn't have such lenient restrictions as to amount of snow to deliver through, etc.

We've hardly had any winter yet this year...but the savings on heating fuel is most well received...!!

No skating for us on our pond so far. It just starts to freeze up nicely and then we get a spell of above freezing temperatures and it melts again.

Well we certainly won't be doing any ice skating! But then we are in Florida and it's been in the eighties or close to it for the past several days. That is something that I have never done and it's probably a good thing too since I would more then likely be 'sitting' down most of the time.

We don't usually get cold enough here in the Southeast to go ice skating. One time when I was a kid, there was a very shallow pond in the neighborhood that froze over and some of the older boys skated. I do hope you get to go ice skating this year. If it's something you are used to, I know you miss it.

It certainly has been a pretty mild for the most part. Maybe you'll get lucky and February will bring you some good ice skating weather and a frozen pond.

I feel your plan and while its not a great sport that I am fond off, my kids are and they were fully bummed out. Before the week Thanksgiving ended the local paper announced a new rink that was going in downtown. It has never been opened yet due to the weather and I hear about it at least once a week.

Yeah, if there are any Floridians who wish to go ice skating you'll have to go to an ice skating rink. There are a lot of rinks in Florida. Most born and raised Floridians usually don't think about ice skating, such as myself. I think more of water skiing as an activity in the south.

I wish there were indoor rinks near me, we would go. Still no ice skating. We did go to a local bar that is on the Lake. There were people walking on the outskirts of the lake, but I would not trust the Lake yet.
