Default Swinging from a rope

Be careful when swinging from a rope off of a cliff. My brother was the only one that didn't let go and fly into the water and he hurt his hip and got scraped up from hitting the cliff. It sounds funny and I saw it happen in a movie called "Grown Ups", but it could've been serious. Just a precaution to remember to let go.

I remember as a chubby little kid watching all the kids swing from the rope out into the water. It looked so easy. When it was my turn I grabbed on and went to swing right out but I immediately let go because I was heavier than I expected. Unfortunately I let go over the shore and not the water and I spent the rest of the summer with my arm in a cast. I was proof that childhood obesity is dangerous!

Why things that are usually the most dangerous are the most funny and interesting to do. I was not the champion at this game but I can say I was pretty decent.

What we can't figure out is who trained the monkey to tie that rope up there in the first place.

Looks like fun! We had a place like that when I was a kid, with a rope tied out on a bridge.

This post reminds me of an experience when I was 10 years old. I was on a day hike in the late winter with some friends. We were practicing outdoor cooking for the Boy Scouts and cooked chicken for lunch over a fire. Then we went down to the local creek a few miles away to the old rope swing. Johnny Phelan got on the rope swing but didn't have enough momentum to get back to shore. He just swang back and forth futher from shore each time. He panicked before we could reach him and he plunged into the water. We quickly built a fire and stripped him of his clothes. We got him dry enough to go home and his parents never knew it happened.

Some of the best times I've had as a kid were swinging out over the water on a rope swing. I do remember though my first time being afraid and not letting go and then getting stuck and afraid to let go. My dad had to climb up and get me down. Oh the shame!

Hi...

Don't remember swingin' from a rope.

Kinda reminds me of Tom Dooley, though.

NOTE:

"Pathfinder", who is now posting on this forum, is NOT Pathfinder1, which is me...!!
