Another Convert

Hello,
My name is beemerphill. I have been a lurker on Backpacker forever, but have about had it with the wait times. When Lamebeaver posted a link to this forum I figured I would investigate. There are some familiar names over here. I can see that I am not the first to cross over!
You won't see a lot of posts by me, I'm the bashful sort. My "camping" experience has mostly been camping on motorcycle trips, and I am getting a little bit old for that kind of stuff now. Maybe a few here and there, but not like it used to be.
The crowd over here seems to be easy to get along with, and friendly. I think that I will enjoy keeping up with the happenings.
To whoever is running this site- You are doing a fine job. And thanks for letting me in! I think that I will enjoy it here.

BP is working again today, but as you're aware, it isn't likely to last long. Feel free to jump in the discussions here; I've noticed this site tends overall to be a little easier on relative newbies.

Howdy Phill. You'll find that the natives are more friendly over here too. Backpackers and horse people rubbing shoulders with ATVers and hunters. It's a pretty nice group.

This morning I checked the BP site. I should have moved over here sooner. Some one over there must actually be reading the complaints. They cranked up the speed to about the same speed as over here. Do you think that their advertisers are worried about the "competition"? I really don't care what the reason is, I came out ahead. Now, I have TWO interesting sites to read with my morning coffee.
