| Attitude Adjustment Hour The transition from backpacking to car camping has not been an entirely happy one, but there are compensations, not the least of which is the much improved attitude adjustment hour, a.k.a. Ted’s evening cocktail.
In the old days out on the trail, the event was limited to a small Thermos filled with chilled Scotch that would be cold the first night, cool the second and warm the third and beyond.
Now a small bar – cocktail shaker, jigger, muddler, etc., in addition to various spirits, mixes and bitters – is on the camp checklist. The liquids are stored in stainless steel water bottles and kept in their own cooler until needed. Ice cubes are in the larger coolers, together with any limes, lemons or oranges needed for a particular drink. The “glassware” is copolyester plastic, except for my martini glass which is stainless steel.
Now I can have a Hendricks martini the first night, a perfect Manhattan the second, and a daquiri or old-fashioned the third. Life is good.
Anyone have any favorite libations or bartending tricks they care to share?

| Ooh...I'm coming camping with you!
Sounds like you have quite the camping set up there. That might put a damper on the next days hike though. I'm happy with a little bit of something at night around the fire, but don't over indulge in full blown cocktails.

| This is the first post I've ever seen here like this! Wow! I don't mind having a drink or 2 around the campfire but nothing as "in depth" as this. We toss Smirnoff in the cooler and off we go.

| Maybe Eaglescout 49 is on to something. A roving bar for campers & backpackers! Maybe throw is some chow with that too, nothing fancy, just some BBQ ribs and stuff like that.
Man....I'm getting hungry again!

| Now that's definitely one awesome idea, Eaglescout. Do you have a recipe for Martinis that you can share with us to make while camping?

The toughest part for me has always been transporting the snifters and some good cigars.

I have a hard padded case that hold 15 cigars, kinda like those pelican cases. You got to protect those bad boys!

| Well, this has really gotten out of hand hasn't it? Laughing!!!!!! We don't go into so much detail when out in the wilderness. Beer and wine is the drink of choice and each one is responsible for their own poison. As long a everyone has a good time, that's all that counts isn't it?
