Default Camping with a kid

My girlfriend is taking her little nephew with her at our camping activity next month. Although it's not my first time to camp in the wilderness, I never camped with a one-year old kid before. Can you share your experience camping with kids at this age? So that I could think of ideas of how to deal with it.

As long as you have all of his essentials with you there shouldn't be too many problems. Issues will arise if it turns out you forgot something, or, if he misses mom. That'll be a big issue.

In the wilderness so not at a campground? Wow, I'm not sure I would do that! 1 is pretty young to be taking out without his mommy! How long are you camping for?

How close are you to the child? Do you frequently have them over night to stay with you? If not I would not advise doing this at all, I think you will end up having a horrible time.

I have a one year old and we have camped but not in the wilderness and I'm her Mom so a little different. If you guys have not spent a lot of time together keeping him I would postpone the trip and stay closer to home with him.

I've never camped with a one year old before. That is going to be hard! I didn't start taking my girls camping until they were about school age. Is she camping in a tent or a camper?

I certainly wouldn't do it! I would take mine to the campgrounds and on easy trails in a backpack but not in the wilderness and NOT if it weren't my child. You will not have a good trip if that child doesn't know you that well. Even if it knows it's aunt well and is used to her keeping it, it still won't like being somewhere strange without Mama or Papa.
