Do you avoid campgrounds on the the holidays?

It seems like the best time to go, those long holidays weekends, for you and everyone else, I'm sure. So do you try and go out to a campground on those weekends when everyone is trying to go, or do you avoid these weekends at all cost? Is it hard to really feel like you're away from it all if you have to battle crowds?

Yeah we hate the crowds too. We try to avoid at all costs. Not just the campgrounds but the boat ramps and other stuff. Not that we don't like people, just that we don't like crowds. We find that all the yahoos come out during the holidays. If we use a vacation day here or there to make a long weekend the we have the place to ourselves for a few days. And still have long holiday weekends.

I have reached the point where I can no longer cope with the holiday crowds. Going camping on a holiday weekend is like going to Disney World during spring break - it's a mad house that I can't deal with and I find no peace in it.

Well, Foxyloxy, you could go camping at Disney World during spring break! lol They have a campground and I bet it fills up during busy holidays.

I personally avoid holiday weekends whenever possible. It's ridiculous how crowded it can get.

I have a hard time even getting a site during holidays. You have to reserve a spot well in advance. I don`t mind the crowds. It`s more fun to me.

The place where we go camping is on a first come basis. So on the holiday weekends we have to get out trailer up at least 3 days before the holiday to get a spot. We don't mind the other campers. We usually just party together.

We avoid the campgrounds during the holidays. When we go, we like to have some peace and quiet, not that it always happens that way, but holidays, wow to many people for me.

I tried to avoid anything but friends and family during the holidays. Or I go to the out of the way places. Small, lesser known, or maybe not in good shape parks.

The biggest reason that I go camping and love it so much is that it gives me the opportunity to commune with nature and to get away from the hustle and bustle of city life and lots of people. Campgrounds are always jam packed on the holidays and so that is the one time that I never go camping.

I try to avoid the crowds. We go camping to relax and get away from others. The places we go are usually packed on the holidays.
