Default Funniest thing while camping

What is the funniest thing that has happened to you while camping? Mine has to be when we were children. We were camping at Kerr Lake in Virginia with another family whose mother was continually complaining about everything. She was lying in a folding lounge chair, griping, when a big plop of bird feces landed smack dab on her left eye. We kids laughed as hard as she cursed. The sight stays with us to this day.

That would be sad in most cases, but if the woman was a whiner, then it's hillarious.

Man, back home, that used to happen all the time. So many seagulls. There were places you could not go without a hat and only an idiot would ever look up. Most people wore a plastic coat if they had to stay any length of time. When the fishing boats came it it would just rain white blobs.

Myrtle Beach state park, SC. Going to sleep to an approaching storm. Waking up at 3am floating on the air mattress in 6 inches of water. Us kids loved it. Mom and dad were quite upset.

I'd agree with you, Grandpa. I guess the birds got pretty much fed up with the whining as well.

Yeah, I can visualise the bird flying over, hovering for a moment and thinking: YOU"RE MINE.

Well its an old wives tale that getting hit by a bird flyover is good luck. About 25 years ago Girlfriend and I were walking along the malecon in La Pas, Mexico, holding hands. A big seagull got us right on our clasped together hands. We are still together and have had about as good a life as it gets so I guess its true. Maybe it was a good attitude adjustment for the camping whiner.

And it true that what is funny for one person is not necessarily funny at all for another. One of the funny things happened while camping in Mexico again. A small group of us were laying back in the desert after setting up camp and cooking. The sun had gone down but there was a bit of ambient light left in the atmosphere. One of the women when out without a flashlight for a quick nature call not too far from camp, marking her territory I guess. As she squatted by some kind of desert scrub a huge rattler started buzzing up a storm and she came running back into camp with her pants down around her knees screaming up a cacophony in the still night. After she calmed down she was able to laugh about it along with the rest of us.

Seen a guy wearing swim trunks sit in some Coleman lantern fuel that was spilled on a bench. He jumped up after a few minutes with his butt burning. He got a terrible skin rash, funny parts was watching him true to wash it off with a canteen ow water.

And, Sarge, you let him sit there without saying a word, didn't you?
