| Well its an old wives tale that getting hit by a bird flyover is good luck. About 25 years ago Girlfriend and I were walking along the malecon in La Pas, Mexico, holding hands. A big seagull got us right on our clasped together hands. We are still together and have had about as good a life as it gets so I guess its true. Maybe it was a good attitude adjustment for the camping whiner.
And it true that what is funny for one person is not necessarily funny at all for another. One of the funny things happened while camping in Mexico again. A small group of us were laying back in the desert after setting up camp and cooking. The sun had gone down but there was a bit of ambient light left in the atmosphere. One of the women when out without a flashlight for a quick nature call not too far from camp, marking her territory I guess. As she squatted by some kind of desert scrub a huge rattler started buzzing up a storm and she came running back into camp with her pants down around her knees screaming up a cacophony in the still night. After she calmed down she was able to laugh about it along with the rest of us.
Only those who live and sleep in the open fully realize the beauty of dawn and moonlight and starlight. -Theodore Roosevelt |
