Default Suggestions on Camping Birthday Theme

My 8-year old son's birthday is coming up. When my wife asked him what would he want for his birthday, he told us that he wanted an overnight camping party with a few of his friends. Our backyard is pretty okay. Thing is, I'm not sure if his friends have been camping or even enjoy it. Do you guys have any suggestions on what things we can do to make sure that everyone enjoys?

Get a big tent, lots of blankets and lots of boys and they will have a hoot.

Hi...

I think Grandpa has the right idea. Just make sure that they know where bathroom facilities are after dark.

Initially checking in on them periodicaly might also be a good idea.

If you are doing it at your house and have access to a projector. Old neighbor of mine use to hang a big white sheet from some trees and show movies on nice nights. Kids loved watching the movies outside by a bon fire, and then had a cook out for the adults. You could do something like that, let them enjoy a movie by the camp fire for one of the activites.

If you can set up a place in your backyard where they can go and have a campfire, that will be great. Lots of food and goodies (just go easy on the sugar or else you might have a problem sleeping at night). The scavenger hunt is also a great idea.

Thanks so much for your suggestions! Would any of you know where I can possibly rent a projector for the occasions?

You might also want to try to incorporate these games while camping for the kids, too. My nephews and nieces really enjoy the nature bingo they suggested here.

leave the light by the back door on and don't be surprised when you find a few of the kids on the couch.

Try this

It qualifies for free shipping

If you let them poke sticks in the fire you don't need a movie.
