Default What to do about annoying campers?

How do you deal with annoying people when you are camping. Had one idiot bring his dirt bike and ride it on the walking path near our tents. My brother-in-law and I got fed up with it and found the biggest log possible and blocked his path.

I try to camp where people aren't even an issue. I don't much like to use large campgrounds, and prefer ones where the campsites are really spread out. Or, I'll use only hike-in camping. Any my favorite, dispersed camping ... where you get to pick your own campsite in the wilderness. Camping that way, I've never had a problem with other campers, and rarely have I even SEEN other campers.

Hey 2coastcamper, which part of NorCal are you from and where do you like to camp? I used to live up around the Eureka area. Never did much camping then compared to now but I sure loved the fishing.

I live in the San Francisco Bay Area. I always go north when I camp. I really enjoyed my time in Eldorado National Forest. Of course there's also Mendocino and Humboldt. Further down my area, there's Yosemite National Forest.

I get out to the coast sometimes, and really enjoy that. But, as I used to live on the east coast, I like beach camping on the East better. So, now that I live in the West, I tend to favor more mountains and rivers when I camp. And, as always, the further past the middle-of-nowhere, the better.

I've never had the confidence to say or do anything. We just try and move so that we can get as far away from the problem as we can.

Years ago I would have had no problem saying something to them, but these days you just never know who you're dealing with. I would notify a park ranger or security or someone like that.

Flannelshirt - That was a good idea to block his path, lol.

We tend to get a little loud at times when we camp (and there are a lot of us together). So if I'm by loud campers, I give them the benefit of the doubt. If people become too annoying, then I will go tell the owners of the campground.

My brother-in-law and I glared at the rider many times as he came through but the idiot just keep on riding. When he saw the gigantic log, he glared as us and we laughed.

I will generally move. I don't get around people much anyway so if they are annoying me, it has to be someone who's with me. I usually camp in the primitive areas so there's usually not a problem.
