Default BMX Restoration

I picked up a used BMX bike at a garage sale for $5 bucks a while back. I am working on restoring it so it will be ready for my son next spring. One issue is that some of the frame is rusted, not all they way through, but it looks bad. How do I make it look shiny again?

Sand it down, then pick up a can of POR15 (Paint over rust) POR15, Inc. - Stop Rust Permanently - Repair Gas & Fuel Tanks This stuff is the absolute best when it comes to rust repair and prevention. Once this stuff dries, it some how turns the rust into a hard epoxy like finish. It can be sanded again and painted with any other color paint. This stuff dries so hard that even with a cutting torch it's hard to burn through it, also don't get it on your skin. Once it dries it has to wear off. READ the instructions. As far as getting it shinny again, it's all depends on the paint you use.

Thanks for the tip of POR15. I used to use it and then didn't have a use for it. I was recently trying to come up with a rust solution of my own. POR15 is the perfect idea. I will have to book mark your post so I can review it.
